About the company

Set in the heart of the dreaming spires, the Bodleian Libraries is a historic venue steeped in romance and elegance. The Bodleian Library dates back to 1488, with its very first 300 books donated by Humphrey, Duke of Gloucester. The library now offers its grandest rooms for private hire, giving clients the chance to enjoy these spectacular spaces for their corporate event, private party or wedding.

FAQ's

We have a variety of different packages available whether you are hosting a corporate party, birthday celebration or your wedding. Please get in touch with us to discuss your requirements, and we can build a quote for you.

The Bodleian Library is a dry-hire venue, so all additional suppliers will be an additional cost.

We have a list of approved and recommended suppliers. For weddings we work with just one caterer who can provide a fine dining experience for your wedding guests. For corporate events and parties there is a list of caterers you can choose from. For all events we work with just one AV & Lighting company. All other caterers are up to you!

As we are a working library, we are not able to have any naked flames onsite (inside or outside). We also have a height restriction within the venue, but we will run through all of those details when you get in touch.

The Bodleian Library is a working library and is open to the public during the day. We include a set up and breakdown time within your hire period, and this is the earliest suppliers can come onsite to set up. All suppliers must be off site by the end of the hire period.
